Back to school
It's back to school time again and I am exhausted! I can't sseem to get anything done at home because of working and then I am exhausted from having to get up early. Kaitlyn started school last week and has already come home with a virus. She missed her second day of school because of running a fever.
I am hoping that I can get us in a routine this week... otherwise my house will show how neglected it can be during the week.

One week!
That is how long until I get to meet some of my best friends. Yes, you heard me... meet my best friends. The wonderful ladies I get to meet in a week are some of my best friends, and I have never personally met them.
I am so excited to be able to finally get to see these wonderful ladies in person. Although someone might want to warn the hotel that we are coming. LOL!

Errands and Will
On Monday I had several errands to run. I told Will that we needed to go do some errands. He looked at me with this sweet look on his face and said ok.... I want to go see erin. Then he looked up at me and asked "mommy, who is erin?"
Today we were leaving my mom's house with the kids, telling them we needed to get going and do our errands. Will again said he wanted to go see erin.
I guess I can see how he got errands and Erin confused. But he was so cute saying it!

The little witches.....
AKA my kids. HAHA!
My two wonderful kids came out of the storage room dressed up as witches. Yes you heard me... Kaitlyn and Will were dressed as witches.
They just decided they want to play outside, but first they have to change into their clothes. Will took off his dress and was standing there in his underwear. He looked so cute trying to find his clothes. Then Kaitlyn changed to play outside.
Wonder what they will find to play with now.

Shhhhh
Do you here it??? It's the sound of Will sleeping. He thinks he is sucah big boy and doesn't need a nap but he most definitely does.
Our day started with me waking both kids up at 7:15 to head to the firehall. Then run to his old daycare, swimming lessons for Kaitlyn, haircut for Kaitlyn, then to my parents house. I told him that if he would lay onthe couch while I was at Walmart, he wouldn't have to take a nap today. Well, it didn't work out that way.
I spent an hour in Walmart, picked up the kids and came home to rest while the kids played. Then about 3:30 Will started crying. He wasn't happy with anything. He was hitting me and Kaitlyn and I knew that he needed a nap.
Thirty minutes later, he is sound asleep and I can get rid of this headache. ahhh peace and quiet.

Camping....
It's loads of fun! I love camping! But now I am exhausted.... just got home from taking 13 girls from my girl scout troop camping for the weekend.
Now I am trying to talk Kaitlyn into another camping trip later where we stay in a cabin that has it's own bathroom... I don't think she liked the fact that the bathroom was across the road from our cabins. She also wants to take a friend to make it more fun.

Kaitlyn
Kaitlyn had her first softball game tonight. I am so proud of her! She was really nervous about tonight because she has stuck out in almost all of her practices. Tonight she got up there and hit the ball! Then the next batters got her home. Her team lost by one point but they played so hard.
Next game is Thursday, so we will see if she can keep it up.

Sweet Maggie
Maggie Amelia Rose Rogerson left us on April 28, 2009 at the age of 8 months. She touched so many lives for someone so little. I never met her but I will always remember her.
Such a sad day. I want to wrap my arms around Kelli and tell her how sorry I am. I want to wrap my arms around my little ones and hold on forever.

Questions...
So much has gone on lately with family and friends that it makes me question life and other things. First there is is Kellie and her sweet family. Her husband Mark lost his battle with cancer this weekend and left Kellie with three sweet boys. Mark was only 33 years old. Why did he have to get cancer and die? I know that God had other plans for him, but why take him and leave Kellie alone with the boys. I continue to pray for Kellie and her family. I wish there was something I could do other than prayers but this is all I can do for now.
Also my step daughter called me this week. She was worried that I wasn't supporting her upcoming wedding anymore. Her future husband did something stupid recently and now her family are not supporting the wedding. I have told her that I will support her if this is what she wants to do, but I want her to think before the wedding. Her future husband will have to earn my respect again. I am fairly certain she will go through with the wedding.. which is just over one month from when she has a baby. I want her to do what is right dor herself and I will support whatever decision she makes. If she does decide to go through with the wedding, then I will be with her... even if her dad isn't.
a bit of good news came this weekend... my neice sent me a picture text of a ring! She is now engaged to a great guy. They are planning on a wedding a year from May which will give my brother (her dad) time to get home from Iraq.

Sad news
My online friend's husband passed away today. This is someone I have never met in person but my heart is breaking for all of them. His illness and death has affected so many people. We were praying for a miracle to happen, but it looks like God had other plans for Mark in Heaven.
May God bless Kellie and her family and watch over them during this time.
I am in tears.

Successes
We have had some minor successes in various things this week.
First Kaitlyn hit the ball three times at practice. This is her first year playing softball and has had problems hitting the ball when it is pitched to her. Monday she was able to hit the ball three times in a row!
Kaitlyn has had problems in school by getting warnings (mainly for talking). When we ask her about it, she says she gets in trouble mainly because she was telling someone else to stop talking. So this week I told her that if she can make it the week without a warning, I will give her $5. So far she has made it all week without a warning. She only has two more days to go, however she won't be at school tomorrow because she got sick tonight.
Will has been staying dry at daycare for the most part! He has even been napping without a pull up. Of course today he had an accident, but one accident is better than every single time.
I have been wanting to get the kids in bed at a decent time but have had problems getting them to understand it. Last night I told them at 8 that they had to be in bed soon and needed to start picking up toys. At 8:30 I told them again, but since I was busy with something I didn't get up to make them. At 9 I got them to pick up the toys and finally got them in bed. Well tonight I got Kaitlyn in bed at 8:30 and Will went to the bedroom with Don around 8:45. I feel like that is an accomplishment.
Now to keep it up!

Prayers
Tonight, I am praying for my online friend Kellie and her husband Mark. Mark has cancer and is not doing well. I pray that God gives them all the strength to make it through this time in their lives. I pray that Kellie has the strength she needs for her three little boys. Please be with them during this time.

The airport and Lowe's
Our day started off unlike most Sundays for us.. we slept in. At 9:30 Kaitlyn's dad called to tell me that her plane was pulling away from the terminal... which meant my baby was on her way home. Around 10 we decided to start getting ready... I showered while Don gave Will a bath. Then while Don was in the shower I decided to check Kaitlyn's flight. I checked my email for her flight information to see that she was to land at 12:50.... no problem.. we have plenty of time to get to Nashville. (which is about an hour and half drive to the airport) Then I found a flight tracker website and noticed that her plane would not land at 12:50 but at 12:25. YIKES!!!! It's 10:30 now and we still have to finish getting ready. We took off and all I could think of was she would get off the plane and I wouldn't be standing there and she would start crying. I am always standing there waiting for her and able to see her coming from the plane... what would happen if I wasn't there.
Don drove fast ( I was afraid to see how fast) in order to get us to the airport in time. I was afraid there would be a line to get a pass, nobody there... however there was a horrible line at the security check in. I started asking people if I could get in front of them since her plane would be there in 10 minutes. I was in a panic!
By the time I got to the terminal, I waited about 5-10 minutes before it got to the terminal.... I was exhausted and out of breath by the time I got there because I ran some of the way. but I made it with time to spare to use the bathroom.
Then we made a stop to eat and do some shopping. We decided to go to Home Depot and Lowe's on our way home since I was looking for something for our garden. Didn't find what we were looking for at Home Depot so we head over to Lowe's. In Lowe's I walk in the front door and head straight for the bulbs. Then I turn to find Don and the kids but saw someone else.... I ran right into Jackie and Noah! That was a treat.
now I am home and the kids are in bed... it will be a long day tomorrow with getting Kaitlyn back on schedule plus having softball and soccer practice tomorrow night.

Spring break
Today is the last day of my spring break.... I think I have gotten enough accomplished over my break. I have cleaned the kids' rooms and worked on my coupons. I have them all clipped and now I can do my shopping with ease adn my coupon binder.
Now I just have to finish cleaning the house.... I want the house straight before going back to work on Monday.
Tomorrow is the day that Kaitlyn leaves for her dad's for a week. I will have to put her on a plane to her dad's and then wait for him to call me to tell me she got there safe. Also tomorrow is the last get together with my brother at his house before he leaves for Iraq for a year.
Ok I need to clean the living room and den... both kids dropped some of their supper on the floor in both rooms last night.

My day today....
This morning I left for work. I was running a few minutes late and still needed to drop Will off at daycare. As I was nearing the end of our road, my cell phone beeped letting me know I had a text. I start slowing down for the stop sign and glance at my phone. The next thing I know my car won't move... I had dropped off the pavement with one tire. I tried to back out from the ditch however I was in a part of the road that has a big dropoff onto a tile. I called DH to come help get me out of the ditch and waited for him. One gentleman stopped to help (retired cop) and stayed with me until Dh got there. Once Dh got there, he tried himself to back out of the ditch and then had me get in to drive my car while him and the other man pushed the car out of the ditch. At one time the back tire of my car was off the road about 2 feet. They got my car out of the ditch and I was able to drive to work. The only damage to my car is a scratch near the tire. Once I got on my way, I met a deputy with lights and sirens. I thought that maybe there was a wreck out the road. I really didn't think anything about it since it had been raining and the roads were wet. I also met an ambulance once I got into town. I finally made it to work late.. I had called in to let them know that I was running late... that I had car trouble. It was a very hectic day at work and my assistant principal looked at me at one time and said bad day to be running late... I told him what had happened and he started laughing. Then fast forward to dh getting home tonight. He worked late tonight dispatching for the ambulance service. He then told me that the paramedic on duty today wanted me to know that I was the beginnning of a bad day for her. Apparently someone drove by and called in a really bad wreck. I was the one the deputy and ambulance was looking for. Dh saw the ambulance and noticed they were looking for someone this morning. He then turned on his radio and heard them say that they hadn't found the wreck yet. He called EMS and asked them about the wreck they were looking for... and told them about me running off the road. He also heard the deputy say that he was at the state line and hadn't found it yet. He called the sherriff's office to see if they were looking for my car. They were.So that was my day... hope your day was better!

background?
Ok so now I am trying to figure out what has happened to my background. I loved my tractors and so did my kids... and now it is gone. I even checked with the blog I found it at, and it is gone. Guess I will have to find a new background that suits my country life.

Who loves you?
Conversation between Will and my Mom....
Meme: Who loves you Will?
Will: Mommy, Daddy and Sissy
Meme: What about Meme?
Will: no, just mommy, daddy, and sissy
Meme: Who loves Meme?
Will: Noone!
Then he will laugh and Meme will get a shocked look on her face.....
Now for some background.... my mom asked the same thing of my now 9 year old nephew when he was little (and not that long ago too) and he would say the same thing.
My mom called my sister in law last night to tell her about what Will said... and Christopher (my nephew) laughed when he heard about it.

Happy Birthday baby!
Today is Will's 3rd birthday! Where did the time go? Three years ago, I sat at the house watching it snow and having contractions. By the time Don got home, from work around 5, they were about 5 min apart but they had been like that almost all day. There was about 2 inches of snow on the ground also. So I called the oncall doctor and she said to head on in to the hospital. We get there and they hook me up to the monitors. I laid in the room while the nurses checked everything and then they came in saying I would be having him that night. My blood pressure was up from what I could tell from what they were saying.
So they take me to the delivery room and start preping me for my second c-section. Don called out parents to tell them, knowing they wouldn't get to the hospital until after he was born. Don was in the nursery with Will when my parents, his mom, and Kaitlyn walked up to the window.
My sweet baby boy is now 3 and is such a big boy. He loves his trains, and Mickey Mouse. Now to get him potty trained.

Birthday party!
Will's 3rd birthday is next week! Where did the time go? We are having his party on Sunday with our family. He is having a firetruck party. He has been so excited about his birthday for a month. It has been so much fun watching him talk about his birthday. He has even learned how to hold his fingers up to say he is 3.
My baby is growing up so fast. *sigh*

Feb 5... one year ago
Tomorrow is February 5. Just a normal day for most... and a year ago it was... until night time. I remember sitting in my living room watching tv and surfing the internet. I was mainly on some weather sites because we were in for some bad weather. By 7:00, I knew we were in for it. I remember watching tv and the local news was all that was one with the weather... a tornado had touched down in Jackson, TN at a college. Then they started showing a line of severe weather heading toward my county. I watched it on the radar as it skipped over Nashville and watched the plot the tv mets were giving for the storm. I knew that if it held together we were in the path of a very bad storm.. one that had already produced a tornado. BY 9:00 Don was on his way home from working the election. I had already gathered together some blankets and flashlights in the hall. I gave the kids light sticks to play with hoping it would help them not be afraid of the coming storms. By 9:30 I had the kids in my bed and asleep. At 10:00 the local news came on and were still talking about the severe storms. Not long after that the cable went out. Don's pager had gone off saying we were under a tornado warning. I looked at him and asked if we should move the kids to the hall. I moved both kids sound asleep into the hall laying them on a pillow. I sat down with them and waited. Not long after that a big clap of thunder shook the house and woke the kids up. I grabbed them immediately and the three of us moved into the doorway to the bathroom. Kaitlyn was crying at this point because she is scared of storms. A few minutes later, Don told me that if I would move he would get in the bathroom with us.... that told me it was about to get bad. We lost power right after that which upset the kids more. I gave them their light sticks and turned on a flashlight. Don had his portable radio in the bathroom with us so we could hear what was going on.
As we sat in the bathroom, we could hear the police over the radio talking about a tornado that was on the ground and pushing them forward. We knew that the tornado was near my parents house and I was worried. It wasn't long after that Don left the bathroom and looked out the front window. His response was "Oh My God!" (there was a large orange glow in the sky... meaning a fire) then went to our bedroom window. The kids and I left the bathroom and went into our bedroom. I remember walking up to Don who was standing at the window and then hearing that sound. I remember Don yelling run... I also remember grabbing the kids and running back to the bathroom. Kaitlyn was crying and we had to tell her to hush because we needed to listen. It sounded like it was right outside the house. The time was 10:30.
Once it was over, Don's pager went off... saying... Lafayette Fire Dept, you won't believe this, we have a report of 3 fires. I ran into the bedroom and grabbed a bag and threw in the clothes I had laid out for the three of us and grabbing coats. Don was leaving the house and I refused to be left here with the kids not knowing what was happening.
We left our house in the rain and headed toward town by our normal route. We got about 2 miles down the road when we ran into a line of traffic. We were right in front of Will's daycare and there was metal all over the place. Seeing Carol outside, we pulled into her driveway to check on her. The metal was not from her daycare, no idea where it came from. We left her and went two houses down and could go no farther... there were power lines and trees across the road with firemen keeping anyone from driving across. Don and another fireman decided to drive down the road to our left. Don was in front and we made it just a little ways before we came across more power lines across the road. Don went through the yard and kept going... but then we came to a tree across the road. The other firemen got out of their truck and they started to get chains to pull the tree out of the way when I noticed there were more trees on the other side. We could not go that way. We back track back to the main highway to decide what to do. At this point we knew we could not get to where the tornado first hit city limits because of trees down on the other road. We back track back out of town and head to another road hoping we could get through there. We made it to the road to the golf course and realize that the tornado had hit here pretty bad. There was a huge tree across the road. We turned down the toad to the golf course and stop to check on my cousin. He lives in a trailer and his sister lives in a house not far from there. They were both okay and then we realize that the trailer that sat next to my cousins house was gone... you couldn't even tell that it was even there.
By this time we know we have got to get me and the kids to my parents house and let Don start helping people. We try to continue down a small side road and can't go anywhere. There use to be metal buildings that housed golf carts... the golf carts looked like match box cars thrown into the trees and the metal building was in pieces all over the road. Don tried to go through the field thinking we might be able to get to the next road and realize we couldn't. So we backtrack again and head to another side road that would take us to Hwy 52 and away from the path. We get to Hwy 52 and head back into town. A truck driver was standing beside his truck trying to wave us down since we were going around the cars that were stopped. We knew we had to get through there somehow. The power lines were down across the intersection including the stop light. One of the firemen was standing there directing the traffic. Knowing we can't go through there, we drive through the parking lot of the church. I dropped Don off at the site and head toward my parents house. But not before finding out that we have run over some metal and the tire was leaking air. I head down hwy 52 toward my parents house again and get to the turn off only to have it blocked by another fireman saying there was a tree down and I couldn't get through there. So I head for the other way into their subdivision and finally make it to my parents house. It was now 11:30.
As I pull into the driveway, my mom comes out of the house. She was about to head back to my granddad's house which I found out took a hit. I get the kids in the house and man the phone. I talked to my brother, sister-in-law and aunt and uncle. I was to try to reach my other uncle who was driving a truck in Kentucky. But then the phone went dead. I was left at my parents house in the dark with my kids and they were terrified. I laid them down in the living room floor while I was trying to reach everyone. Then was the phone went dead, I laid on the floor with them and tried to sleep. Everyone else was at my granddad's house trying to get the windows boarded up so that they could go to sleep. Even my brother drove up to help.
The next thing I remember was my parents coming into the house and mom telling me to go to bed. I got the kids into my parents bed and laid down with them and my mom and went back to sleep. I don't even remember what time it was at this point but I knew there was another storm heading towards us. Then my brother stopped by to drop off dad and head home. I went out to tell him to be careful since the next storm was on it's way.
The next morning, I get woke up at 7 by my cell phone ringing. I was amazed since we lost cell service the night before. It was Kaitlyn's grandmother checking on us since she had seen the news. At this point I have no idea how bad things really are since I had only seen a few things at night. After hanging up with her, I tried to call work to tell them I wouldn't be there, but couldn't get a signal. I leave the house and head to where Don was to use his cell. I called into work and then headed to the house to get some more clothes for us.
The damage that I saw on my way to the house was mind blowing! I couldn't even imagine that things would look like that. I still see it a year later even though it has been cleaned up. I see the scars from an F3 tornado daily... but I am so thankful that my family survived it.

Snow day.
Today we had a snow day. It was only raining when I woke up at 5:15 but the snow was on it's way. They finally closed my school around 5:30. I stayed up 30 more minutes then went back to bed. It still wasn't snowing at 7:00 when I got up but it didn't take long. By 8:30 the snow was here and the ground was white. However underneath the snow was mud and standing water. I really didn't want the kids to play in the snow this time because of the mud underneath. I could even see places in the yard where there was standing water under the snow.
Kaitlyn is out tomorrow again... not sure about me. I am sure the roads will be icy in the morning since it is suppose to be in the 20's overnight.
At least the kids have had fun today playing. I fixed them a playhouse/tent with blankets and they are still playing in it. At least it is out of the way in the den and they can leave it up for now.

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition
I am in tears! This show normally makes me cry, but this one really touches my heart. They are in Kansas with a family who lost their house to a tornado. But not only that, the dad almost died in Iraq.
The pictures of the town are so heartbreaking... they bring back so many memories. It is almost one year that a F3 tornado went through our town. I see the scars of this everyday. They run deep... deeper than I thought they would. While my house was not hit, my family was. My Granddad is now living in a new house because of the tornado. I still see the house I grew up in but it is no longer there.

Weather....
I have been checking the weather online and it looks like we might be in for some ice. Give me snow any day but I don't like ice. Ice causes power outages and lots of wrecks. I am not completely sure if we will be getting it, but I am going to go ahead and prepare. Last Feb a tornado hit our town and we lost power for 3 days. I lost everything in my deep freezer. This year it is fuller, but I am going to move everything from my freezer to the deep freezer. I am also going to get my blankets gathered together to cover the freezer. There is no way I could afford to replace all the food I have in there now.
I am also heading to Walmart today to get some oil lamp globes. I have two oil lamp bases (actually they are pint jars with handles and the lamp wick) and now I need two globes for them. I still need to look for the oil lamp fuel but I think I have some.
Not sure what we could do for heat if we loose power. I might have to get everything ready and then stay with my parents since they will have an alternative heat source.

ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can I go running, screaming down the road??? It is Saturday morning and my kids are driving me crazy! They spent most of the week together and not one problem... but this morning they must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed. Kaitlyn wants to play with her Barbies in the den, however Will wants to play with her. She is yelling at him because she wants to play by herself and then she pushes him away.
At least right now they are playing together right now. It makes my day easier if they aren't fighting.
And if they are fighting over toys at 7 and 2... what will it be like when they are older and wanting the phone, car, money.... Oh NO!

No School!
OK so the weather is giving us a small vacation. I work in a neighboring county and sometimes Kaitlyn is out of school when I am not. Friday the temperature outside was too cold for us to have school.... meaning temps in the negative range. Monday was Martin L. King day, so no school. Then it snowed and both of us were out again on Tuesday. This gave us both a 5 day weekend. Now it is snowing again (flurries mainly) but Kaitlyn is out of school again for tomorrow. I am waiting to hear from the county I work in, but I really don't expect us to be out tomorrow. It would be nice, but not likely. So now it a waiting game.
Update: 3:05
No school for me too! I get to spend another day at home with my kids tomorrow!!!

It Snowed!
The kids finally got to play in the snow today!!! We got about a half an inch of snow and it is disapearing now but we still got snow. I am sure we didn't get enough to keep us out of school tomorrow but hey, the kids got to play today and that is all the matters.

It's cold out there! The low for tonight is suppose to be 13.. the high tomorrow is 19. Then the low tomorrow night is a whopping -3! It will be absolutely freezing when Kaitlyn gets on the bus the next two days. I just pray our pipes don't freeze!
On another note there is no snow in our forecast... it's sad to see this much cold air and no snow.

Snow...
ok so I am home today on a sick day but I really want a snow day tomorrow. Chances of that are looking slim... guess I should be prepared for work tomorrow. The kids really want a chance to play in the snow but so far we haven't had a decent snow to play in.

One more day to go....
And my Christmas break will be over. Christmas was wonderful.... My kids were happy with what all they got and I am happy that I didn't spend a fortune on everything. I just wish I had been able to accomplish everything on my list over my break. I have almost everything done, just need to straighten two more rooms and I think I will be finished.
Kaitlyn comes home tomorrow and I can't wait. i know she has has only been gone just over a week, but it has been a long week and days. At least she is only hours away instead of being on the other coast.
